Rescue your Skin Today with Quinoderm

Quinoderm (benzoyl peroxide) is a type of topical medication that’s used to treat various forms of acne that forms on the skin. It contains two active ingredients, potassium hydroxyquinoline sulphate and benzoyl peroxide, that help treat and prevent the formation of acne on the skin.

Active Ingredients

The benzoyl peroxide within this topical acne cream is a type of medicine that’s also known as a keratolytic. It essentially works by breaking down keratin, a type of protein that forms part of the skin’s structure.

When applied to the skin, benzoyl peroxide causes the skin’s top layer of cells to break down and eventually shed. This breaking down process helps break down comedones (both whiteheads and blackheads), unblocking the sebaceous glands on the skin. In addition, it prevents the formation of new comedones on the skin.

Benzoyl peroxide possesses antibacterial properties, which helps it directly kill bacteria from acne known as popionebacterium acnes.

This common bacteria feeds on sebum produced by the skin’s sebaceous glands, producing the waste products and fatty acids that eventually irritate the sebacious glands and produce the characteristic inflamed spots on the skin. Benzoyl peroxide helps reduce the number of bacteria on the skin, which helps brings reduce and eliminate the inflammation within the skin under control.

Potassium hydroxyquinoline sulphate also possesses antibacterial and antifungal properties, included within Quinoderm to strengthen the antimicrobial properties of the aforementioned ingredient.
